Farhat Batool, a volunteer teacher, here on Wednesday gave the first lesson to a total of 50 children in the woods near the tents of the China International Search and Rescue (CISAR). The children's school with the donation from international community is temporarily called military primary school with five grades. On the same day, 500 children returned to school in the downtown area of Balakot.
More and more children came to join Batool and her students. Lieutenant colonel Saeed, the chief officer of the disaster-relief headquarter in Balakot told Xinhua that the local children will attend a big parade, mobilising the local people to "live through the disaster".
The six-year Akit was among the mass. His mother died in the earthquake, leaving two children to the deaf father. His father told Akit with gesture that Pakistani people will live through sorrow and disaster.
Another volunteer Fida Hussain said Pakistan will not live upon only international community, instead, the local people are taking active steps to rebuild their home. Two most renowned non-government organisations, namely, Sarhad Rural Support programme and Community Based Resource Management, will launch a six-year educational project in disaster-hit and rural areas. Hundreds of people, including students, teachers, government officials, military officers and some international rescue team members, also attended the parade with hand in hand.
